Ceremony customs in Russia

Persons enjoy celebrating their marriage with their family and friends. Depending on where you live, wedding customs can vary greatly, but several spouses stick to a few tried-and-true elements and incorporate some eccentricities into their service.

A couple goes through an proposal phase known as pomolvka before deciding to get married. The bridegroom does make some trips to his coming girlfriend’s apartment and kids during this time to try to win her hand in marriage. Typically, this chat is riddle-like and includes both questions and answers. A “yes,” “no,” or “maybe” could be the response.

The couple must then wait at the registration office until their enrollment moment. It might take up to three months to complete this. They are not permitted to interact or see one another during this time. This is done to stop a fugitive union.

The couple must beat a variety of challenges on their means to the register office, but the couple’s family makes up for them. Assessments of power, knowledge, and a variety of other capabilities may be included in these. The man must pay a compensation, which is typically currencies, candies, or chocolate bars, if he fails.

After the civil ceremony the couple goes to a venue where they have a reception. There they are greeted by their guests and the toastmaster, who is known as tamada (tamaa). The toastmaster runs all of the contests during the celebration. He also says several toasts, tells jokes and sings songs. Once he drinks the first shot of champagne or vodka he starts all the guests to shout “Gorko!” which means bitter.
